Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy uses targeted energy to kill cancer cells, shrink tumors, and provide relief of certain cancer-related symptoms. The radiation may be delivered by a machine outside the body (external-beam radiation therapy), or it may come from radioactive material placed in the body near cancer cells (internal radiation therapy, also called brachytherapy).

Systemic radiation therapy uses radioactive substances, such as radioactive iodine, that travel in the blood to kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy may be used in conjunction with surgery or chemotherapy to treat cancer. About half of all cancer patients receive some type of radiation therapy sometimes during the course of their treatment.

When our Clinical Oncologist determines radiation to be an appropriate therapy for you, he will develop a treatment plan using sophisticated imaging and radiation technologies, including CT simulation, 3D Conformal Therapy, and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).

You may be arranged to one of the designed hospital, such as HK Sanatorium Hospital or HK Adventist Hospital in Hong Kong and St. Teresa Hospital or Hong Kong Baptist Hospital in Kowloon side for your radiation treatment.
